Going From a Want to a Need…

For the past few years, I have been sailing on a friend’s boat named Siyagruva. The owner of Siyagruva had a membership program that allowed a small group of friends to use the boat, kind of like a timeshare. The boat was always available, and clean. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. With the limited number of members on a single boat, I found that I felt as if the boat was mine. So I sailed it like I owned it. It felt exclusive and wonderful. I loved having access to a large sailboat with no need to worry about maintenance or upkeep.

About two years ago I decided that I wanted a newer, more modern design sailboat with dual helms. I looked at several newer used Beneteau’s but none captured my imagination. About a year ago I began to pay more attention to the Jeanneau’s. When I learned they were manufactured in Marion South Carolina I was hooked.

In early October of 2019 I went to the Annapolis Boat Show in Maryland. If you have not been to this show, put it on your list! It is an amazing experience and is second to none in the US for the ability to compare boats side by side. While there, I ran back and forth between Beneteau, Jeanneau, Catalina, before making my decision. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410 captured my passion and I decided that I must have her! A couple of conversations with Jeanneau and a local dealer and my order for the construction of a brand spanking new 410 is on the way!

Now I just have to choose all the colors and options and find a marina! I am going to need some help!

  1. Catalina boats

Such an inspiring story! I feel like sailing again! I’ve been into boating for almost 20 years but due to the pandemic had to sell all my boats. I haven’t been feeling good since then. But after reading your article I think it’s a sign to start over. Thank you! I own a web directory about boats. Would you mind if I add your article to my directory? It would be a pleasure for me.
